
Hi Everyone, The time is getting closer and if you are interested in learning about screenprinting take this opportunity to spend time with Andy at Black Swan Studio. We are so excited to have him in Houston to share his skills and experience.
A special 2 day workshop at Black Swan Studio in Houston, takes place on November 7th and 8th, 2009. Screenprinting is used to make a wide range of items, from posters and stickers, t-shirts and signs, all the way to solar cells and electronics. This course will show how it is done and get participants printing, either at home or in a shop.
Students will learn all about applications and products, art and film prep, photo stencil coating and developing techniques, mesh selection for printing fabric and flat stock, inks and additives, make-ready and multicolor registration, plus printing techniques using various presses, all using water based inks and low tox materials. All materials are supplied (except shirts) and the course fee includes the instruction manual Screenprinting Today, the Basics by Andy MacDougall, ASPT.
This is presented by Black Swan Screen Printing Studio, a full service art oriented screen shop and features guest instructor Andy MacDougall, ASPT. (Instructor bio: HYPERLINK "http://www.worldprintmakers.com/english/andybook.htm" http://www.worldprintmakers.com/english/andybook.htm) MacDougall is a Canadian printer who has presented workshops all over the USA and Canada, and is a regular contributor to Screenprinting Magazine and other graphic trade magazines in North America. He is a member of the American Poster Institute(API), the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA), and was inducted into the Academy of Screen Printing Technology in 2007, one of about 35 members worldwide.
Screenprinting is an amazingly simple print process used to make a wide range of products. One of its most interesting features is it's versatility and low cost. Screenprinting can print on almost any material. Students will get lots of hands on experience and print a range of materials, from paper to textiles, wood, glass. plastic and more. Part of the course will touch on low budget setups for the home or garage based artist or entrepreneur.
