"Over here, there is no ugly duckling..."
The Black Swan Screenprinting Studio is my dream and vision and encorporates the art elements I have been working with for the last 2 decades. Through my work as a fiber artist I realized the endless possibilities of working with fibers. The interaction between color, texture and design inspired me to develop my own fabric dying methods and incorporate hand painting and needlework embleshments to create art wear and interior furnishing designs.
I then began to use needlework, prescious stones, beading and handpainted metals to design my line of jewelry. The line is eclectic and includes findings and designs inspired by the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods. Some of my pieces have an ethnic inspiration and incorporate African Trade Beads or silver from Bali. Many of my hand painted metal pieces were born from my travels in the desert southwest.
Most recently I am intrigued by the art of hand screen printing. New techonologies allow for the beautiful replication of art designs on paper, fabric, canvas and other materials.My vision encompasses a fully equipped screen printing art studio that will provide excellent quality reproductions in an environmentally friendly fashion on various mediums. Using state of the art equipment, our studio will take original artwork and transfer it to the material of choice. The final product might be a business promotional piece produced in large quantities or a limited edition piece. The artist is allowed control of production and promotion of their work. The studio will serve as a one shop service for the artist or business desiring to reproduce work in a cost efficient and flexible environment.
